the return of vpr (in Changelog)

AdminJonathan July 5 2005 6:11 PM EDT

I thought that tattoos and items counting towards PR would render the "virtual pr" concept unnecessary, but Mikel demonstrated I was wrong.

VPR is back.

For those of you just joining us, that means that when calculating battle rewards all untrained xp is included in your "virtual pr" rating; in other words, there is nothing to be gained by not training or even untraining to keep (M)PR low.

LumpBot July 5 2005 6:12 PM EDT

Good change!

QBsutekh137 July 5 2005 6:15 PM EDT

Excellent.

Jason Bourne July 5 2005 6:15 PM EDT

the heavens open up, and the air is filled with the voices of angels!!!

HALLELUIAH!!!!! Sing Praises!!! :D

Aco July 5 2005 6:16 PM EDT

and to prove mikel even further wrong, please halve his untrained exp :P

Ox [StephenMelinda Gates Fund] July 5 2005 6:16 PM EDT

Doh now I have to stop being lazy and train my exp sooner. Good change though, it's been abused alot.

TheEverblacksky July 5 2005 6:17 PM EDT

i love it!

[T]Vestax July 5 2005 6:29 PM EDT

Good Move.

Mikel [Bring it] July 5 2005 6:50 PM EDT

Cool :)
glad I spent almost all of my ba's already. SO with that said, I can train now and it won't effect my rewards? or is VPR a % of untrained exp?

Will [Retired] July 5 2005 6:57 PM EDT

It means you're going to have get a new fightlist if you want good rewards again....

Duke July 5 2005 9:13 PM EDT

Is the change allready happen or it will be after the cache flush

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] July 5 2005 10:17 PM EDT

whoo! reverting back to Cb1! :P

Slowly but surely ;)

Synco July 5 2005 11:18 PM EDT

Is forging based on VPR?

QBRanger July 6 2005 12:09 AM EDT

Question:

Is the BA regen rate and the BA cost to buy based on MPR or VPR?

Lumpy Koala July 6 2005 12:16 AM EDT

should be VPR

QBsutekh137 July 6 2005 12:17 AM EDT

Yes, should be VPR, otherwise the whole point is kind of...pointless, no?

AdminJonathan July 6 2005 12:20 AM EDT

it's always been vpr

well, total experience earned, which works out to the same thing, sort of

[T]Vestax July 6 2005 12:52 AM EDT

MPR is effecting BA costs, not VPR, at least that is what I'm experiencing.

Mikel [Bring it] July 6 2005 1:03 AM EDT

GPV is correct.

Manta July 6 2005 4:18 AM EDT

One question: why use VPR instead of including untrained exp into MPR?

Lumpy Koala July 6 2005 4:27 AM EDT

manta:

VPR = untrained XP included into MPR....

bartjan July 6 2005 4:50 AM EDT

Nope, VPR is *not* included in MPR. It's nowhere displayed, and VPR is only the same as MPR if you have trained all your XP.

Undertow July 6 2005 4:56 AM EDT

That's his point NSK, he's saying why have both, why not just Virtual PR.

bartjan July 6 2005 5:33 AM EDT

Because VPR has nothing to do with your power in battle...

Manta July 6 2005 6:15 AM EDT

I think bartjan answered my question.

AdminShade July 6 2005 9:53 AM EDT

great change :)

Quark July 6 2005 10:10 AM EDT

If this change was just to combat tattoo growth without training, why not let tattoos only level when you train XP. So if the tattoo has another 200 levels to train, but you only train 1/2 of the untrained XP, the tattoo would only gain 100 levels. That would eliminate much of the need for untrained XP without penalizing people for not training. I choose not to train XP during wacky XP time because it won't change my fight list - why should I get penalized towards the end of my bought BA because I didn't train. Just don't let my ToE level until I do train, and let me keep the rewards I'm getting since my actual power doesn't change. I'm fine with building 80k+ EXP across my minions and keeping the ToE at the same level through the whole wacky XP time as long as I can keep the same fight rewards.

Short form - I disagree with the form of the change (but not the intent) - get rid of VPR and only level tats based on the % of untrained XP that gets trained.

TheEvolution July 6 2005 10:16 AM EDT

/me likes the change

SaintMichael July 6 2005 10:18 AM EDT

This change is Horrible! (just for variety)

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] July 6 2005 10:51 AM EDT

Yup, this is ridiculous......Mikel passed me up and he's been here a month....I started my char at least 3 months ago.......I understand VPR, but the NUB is way too much.... He just joined and he knows everything about clans and buying BA, and i wouldnt doubt...everything else....

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] July 6 2005 11:02 AM EDT

Was the NUB not put into place to helps nubs as they try to learn the game? Well, as far as i can see Mikel sure knows the game as much as anyone else does....3 months of buying BA and barely missing any refreshed BA, he still caught up to me...=/

AdminJonathan July 6 2005 11:08 AM EDT

you completely missed the point, G Maximus

thanks for trying though, at least you put some thought into it

Quark July 6 2005 11:21 AM EDT

Oh well - worth a shot. I figured the battle rewards should focus on net power, and untrained XP should not affect a character's power. And yes, Mikel passed me too (although I'm on my third character since Jan 1).

[T]Vestax July 7 2005 11:06 PM EDT

The BA cost thing got fixed now by the way. It now works on VPR and not MPR.
